Interested in watching your ideas being manufactured – evolving from dreams into reality? Looking for a role that will provide training? Looking to work with hardware that tackles Cryptographic, cryptology, encryption and decryption solutions? Then this is the role for you!
Due to combination of organic growth and new projects, we're looking for a Trainee / early careers Hardware Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team. You will be based in Newport and working on Digital Electronics solutions / services utilised by the Cyber Security team for Trusted MOD / Government infrastructure.
This role will suit someone from the following backgrounds:
· Straight out of studies
· Research / R&D
· A few years commercial experience
· A digital design / Electronics background who is open to training
Desired profile
Tasks & accountabilities
You will be reporting to the Head of Hardware Engineering for executing allocated electronics hardware design work packages within agreed cost, time and quality constraints.
Resolve clearly defined problem statements into design solutions / prototypes typically up to 6 – 12 months in duration. You will be responsible for specifying, performing and documenting electronics hardware design for allocated elements of the product design architecture, by:
· Specifying hardware architectures and solutions to problem statements.
· Performing in-house electronics design for allocated area of responsibility.
· Adequately documenting the design for allocated area of responsibility.
· Controlling and reviewing work of the members of their team
Main activities of the role:
· High-speed Digital hardware Design.
· Schematic capture and PCB layout.
· FPGA design.
· Full cycle development from requirements capture through to production support.

Required skills
To be successful for this role, you need to have the following (Academic / commercial) skills / experience:
· A proven interest in new technologies and Electronic Engineering.
· A deep interest in how things work.
· High-speed Digital hardware Design.
· Understanding / knowledge of Schematic capture and PCB layout.
· An interest in learning about FPGA design and Electronics Design.
