Description of the job

A vacancy for a Test Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Portsmouth.

The successful applicant will join an existing test team within Payload, Products & Projects and will focus on Thermal Vacuum.

The role operates on a 28 day rolling shift-pattern, with various uplifts / shift premiums applicable across the pattern. Rotation and working hours are as follows:

·  7x Late shift (2pm - 10pm)
·  2x Day off
·  7x Early shift (6am - 2pm)
·  2x Day off
·  7x Night shift (10pm - 6am)
·  3x Day off

The successful candidate will need to be eligible to gain UK SC Security Clearance to undertake the role, though will be able to start on basic clearance (BPSS).

Desired profile

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Primarily performing thermal vacuum and climatic testing on electronics hardware.
·  Ensuring that testing undertaken by the laboratory is carried out in accordance with customer's requirements in a timely manner to our accredited standard.
·  Maintaining accurate and systematic records in accordance with documented procedures
·  Preparing and compiling test reports and other local documentation
·  Writing/updating operating procedures.
·  Support UKAS accreditation audit.

Required skills

We are looking for applicants with the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to HNC/HND level in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent discipline
·  A background in a 'hands on' role in the Engineering industry
·  Test laboratory experience would be excellent, though not essential as full training will be provided
·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·  The ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels, both with colleagues and customers
·  The ability to work well under pressure, prioritise and coordinate
·  The ability to work to tight deadlines
