A vacancy for a Test and Validation Digital Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Portsmouth.

The successful applicant will join MAIT Portsmouth.

Outline Job Profile
The Digital Responsible Engineer is a specialist systems role responsible for the digital aspects of Test System Development within the AIT organisation.

The Digital RE systems specialist will be responsible for the definition and development of Test System Hardware and Software required for the for current and future test systems.

A hands-on team player will lead the development of both test systems and H/W payload test-benches required for the production-test and validation of digitally processed satellite payloads.

Job Description:
Requirements capture and analysis, detailed design, validation, commissioning, testing and support for Test Systems applications with an emphasis on Digital Engineering implementations.
Support for deployed test systems including results analysis and if required assistance with payload debug.

The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

The Digital RE role includes but is not limited to the Test Systems

·  Produce and Maintain Requirements, Design, Integration, Validation & Implementation
·  Apply the processes for Test Requirements, Specifications, Reviews and Delivery
·  Support Deployment test solutions for equipment and payload testing

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

Qualifications

·  Minimum Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject.

Experience

·  Solid and proven experience in Digital signal processors with relevant experience in electronics design strongly desired.
·  Experience of testing designs involving digital signal processors.
·  Hands on experience in Test Engineering and leadership within a manufacturing environment.
·  Design and build of automated test equipment including integration of third party H/W into a single system.
·  Hardware & Software Digital Systems, Equipment, Unit and Interfacing design
·  Test Programming of instruments using NI Labview / Teststand.

Desirable Skills

·  Solid and proven experience in theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the design and implementation of Hardware & Software for Automated Test Systems.
·  Leadership skills based on Team motivation, management and direction.
·  Documentation provision of Requirements capture, BID’s Proposals, planning, estimating, resource management, reports and presentation.
·  Instrumentation Integration & Control using SCPI over GPIB/LAN, RS232, RS422, MIL-STD-1553, High Speed CAN.
·  Test Programming using LabView or equivalent.
·  Data base technologies: XML, SQL
·  Hardware design, validation and implementation

·  Team player, willing to learn about new technologies and learn new skills
·  Able to lead a team of engineers to implement the design aims and deliver validated test solutions.
