The opportunity is within the Functional Avionics group in Stevenage. This group is in charge of the Operational concept, Failure Detection & Recovery, Functional Test concept and associated data management. This involved system level design, development, and verification, for on-going European Space Agency (ESA) programmes such as ExoMars Rover, Solar Orbiter and Biomass. In this position you will be working in the area of spacecraft database architecture, data management and delivery, within the context of overall System Functional Verification on simulated Test Benches and Tests Benches with Hardware in the loop.

Tasks & accountabilities

The three main activities you may expect to undertake during this internship are;

·  Develop with users, the user requirements for Airbus Defence and Space database systems
·  Develop, test and maintain software for Airbus Defence and Space database systems
·  Train users of Airbus Defence and Space database systems software

Required skills

Please note our Internships are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

·  Working towards a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Technology
·  Modules in the following would be beneficial - Programming, Databases, Software Architecture
·  Proactive approach
·  Evidence of effective teamwork
·  Good written and verbal communication
