In this role, you'll be working within the highly successful Network Management Systems (NMS) Centre of Excellence developing software products for use within secure communication networks worldwide.

The NMS team is predominately based in Portsmouth and looks at innovative solutions to the particular challenges of Satellite communication networks deployed for secure communications. This currently involves utilising the latest technologies including AI/ML, Angular front end and a micro service architecture as the back end to provide the business logic.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to build on their existing skills and to make a real contribution to an appropriate group project.

Tasks & accountabilities

Main activities of the role:

·  Development using Java enterprise or Python.
·  Use of Machine Learning Frameworks , such as TensorFlow.
·  Design of solutions using UML.
·  Integration and test of solution within a system environment.
·  Deployment of solutions into active communication networks.
·  Fault analysis and rectification on active communication networks.

Required skills

Please note our Internships are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

Relevant degree disciplines:

·  Studying Computer Science (BSc/MSc)

Relevant degree modules:

·  Python , Java Development or any OO language
·  Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning.
·  Web Development
·  Design / UML
·  IP Networking/Software Defined Networking (SDN)
·  Cyber Security

Technical / IT / Behavioural / Language skills required:

·  Knowledge of full software lifecycle.
·  Ability to work within a team environment sharing designs and working collaboratively to achieve deliveries.
·  Knowledge of development for Windows or Linux platforms.
·  Knowledge of software testing strategies.
