The Airbus Defence and Space Programme Management Office (PMO) define, standardise and maintain organisational excellence through World Leading Programme Management best practice in support of Programme Delivery Governance and Support. The PMO defines and maintains the standards for project management, strives to standardise and introduce economies of repetition in the execution of projects and is the source of documentation, guidance and metrics on the practice of project management execution. The department covers Programme Management best practice, Project Control and Support, Financial Control, Risk Management, Resource Management and Documentation Control.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a diverse PMO having interaction with all areas of the business and exposure to all levels of the management hierarchy as well as engaging with internal and external customers and stakeholders, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) being the major customer. This provides a real opening for personal growth within a team where learning and development is key to our success.

Tasks & accountabilities

During this internship, the activities you may undertake will include;

·  Assisting the Head of the PMO and Programme Managers (PM) in the development and maintenance for the appropriate business management tools, other relevant methodologies, tools, templates, documentation and reporting.
·  Supporting the Head of PMO and PMs in the company transformation / integration process, maintaining and tailoring processes for Project Management as required by the business and selecting, developing / configuring and maintaining software tools to support the Business and Information Management Systems.
·  Liaising with the Risk Process Manager to support the implementation of best practice Project and Risk Management across the business and assisting the Resource Manager in embedding and maintenance of the Resource Management process within the business.

Required skills

Please note our Internships are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

·  Currently studying towards a degree in Business Management or related subject.
·  An understanding of Project Management methodologies.
·  Good written and verbal communication skills.
·  Good organisational skills.
·  Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
·  Experience of using databases is beneficial, but not essential.
