Job Description

A vacancy for a Programme Manager - Combat Training (d/f/m) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Manching. The successful applicant will join “TACI - Programme Management Combat Services “.

The Programme Manager is responsible for:

- Ensuring the implementation of operational planning objectives within the combat aircraft training department

- Contribution to the strategic goals of Airbus Defence and Space / Combat Services by increasing market share by implementing concepts and products along future trends and markets.

Important roles and responsibilities:

¤ Strategy

- Develop and implement strategies to further improve the combat aircraft training business with the aim of active market management to build long-term customer relationships.

- Provision of operational military expertise for Combat Aircraft Training Programme Management in the further expansion of the current EF training media and services for pilot and technician training (e.g. for new combat customers for NGWS, future TOR and/or export customers).

¤ Sales Support / Business Development / Product Planning

- Support of business development incl. contribution to the associated product strategies

- Research and evaluation of new operational capabilities, related training technologies and trends to be integrated into our Airbus products and related training tools.

- Supporting the related business development activities based on the overall Airbus product strategies for Defence and Space.

- Definition of product/service strategies for future business development activities.

¤ Program and Project Management

- Support of the Combat Aircraft Services program and project management as required

- Definition of future training solutions with live, virtual and synthetic training media

- Definition and implementation of training courses and in-service support

- Support of future formal offer responses through a global and comprehensive business analysis

¤ Customer Relationship Management

- Liaison with the Air Force forces, personnel and relevant national ministries for Defence and procurement to determine current and future operational training needs.

- Improve the customer network to support the customer planning process.

¤ Reporting and collaboration with other stakeholders

- Provide the Head of Training Combat Aircraft Services with appropriate reports on progress and/or deviations.

- Work closely with other internal stakeholders.

You have the following knowledge and qualifications:

- Degree in business administration, aeronautical engineering, computer science or equivalent (e.g. civil servant - executive employee)

- Relevant experience in the Air Force (e.g. officer, general staff officer) - preferably with operational knowledge and/or in-depth knowledge of combat aircraft operations and the training of military flight personnel.

- Sound personnel experience in the armed forces / MOD / procurement offices

- Sound experience in the field of engineering and project management - customer orientation with a pronounced possibilities of communication and influence

- Program management / product development know-how

- Ability to manage complexity in working with / leading interdisciplinary teams - national and international; business-oriented including development and growth.

- Fluent in German and English

- PMP certification, Airbus internal certification would be a plus.

- Preferred technical fields of knowledge:

¤ Modern combat weapon systems, especially Eurofighters

¤ Real-time and event-based high fidelity simulators for military applications

¤ Training needs for OCU and tactics and mission training fighter pilots

¤ Development and implementation of training courses including associated regulations

- Willingness to take frequent business trips
