Description of the job

Within the framework of NAVBLUE Airspace and Airport consulting projects, the Simulation engineer will support the Project managers on the Fast-Time simulations work packages where baseline models shall be built and new CONOPS (CONcept Of OPerationS) or optimization measures shall be implemented to illustrate and highlight the expected benefits.

Tasks & accountabilities

She/He will help defining:
- the model scope,
- the data to be collected (differentiating the must-have data from the nice-to-have data),
- the results environment (e.g. which kind of KPI will be interesting)

He/she is accountable for:
- Managing the input data collection, its analysis and the assessment of its reliability in coordination with the NAVBLUE project manager and the Customer
- Facilitate the data collection phase with data processing methods and tools
- Modelling with Fast-Time Simulation software (AirTOp ground, TMA and En-route) wherever the Airside, the TMA or the En-route infrastructure, implementing the operational rules.
- Ensuring the baseline model calibration, providing methods and measures
- Running simulations
- Analysing the results of the simulations through KPIs, with the assistance of Subject Matter Experts.
- Presenting the results to the Customer, if required.

He/She will also be trained to use NAVBLUE Simulation tool for Instrumental Landing System (ILS) disturbances studies. This tool simulates the ILS signal received by an approaching aircraft, within a given airport environment. Typically, it allows the evaluation of disturbances of the ILS signal that can be generated by “objects” surrounding the runway (such as buildings, hangars, cranes, highways, etc.) due to “multipaths” or signal reflections of the ILS signal. The consequence of such disturbances is that approaching aircraft can potentially receive false guidance information, which ultimately can lead to runway excursions.
