Job Description

A great opportunity for a job of Radio navigation function/system designer (m/f) has arisen in Airbus Toulouse.

You are passionate about aircraft real time radiofrequencies sensors, image based processing and data fusion ? You want to discover aircraft operations? Interact in a multi-disciplinary environment across the company is a motivation for you? You are reactive and customer oriented? You want to discover the AIRBUS navigation systems from inside and paving the way to the future of navigation architecture?

By integrating Radionavigation team design office located in Toulouse, you will have the opportunity to cover all these fields ! You will join the system design group in charge of radio and image navigation Research & Technology, feasibility studies and functions development.

Your mission is to prepare future architecture, new technologies and services supporting Airlines Operations, Airbus & Airlines business profitability

You will be responsible of the definition, design and integration of new or improved navigation functions that can be deployed on several targets (different programs). Part of your mission will be to develop the algorithms supporting these new functions based on multi sensors data fusion and estimation.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will be to:

- Contribute and broadcast radio and image navigation strategy

- Define top-level objectives and requirements of new or improved functions derived from the navigation strategy

- Develop, validate and integrate the algorithms supporting these functions

- Contribute to safety, Verification & Validation and certification related activities
- Ensure the deployment of these functions on in-service and future Airbus aircraft  

- Collaborate in multi-functional team with the relevant stakeholders (Airbus internal centers &functions, external academics, industrial partners, subcontractors) to ensure the delivery of the projects

- Be accountable of projects delivery on time, cost, quality and performance targets

- Promote and develop innovations, developments and Validation &Verification relative to radio and image navigation systems

You will therefore have a large and rewarding number of interfaces including other aircraft system teams, aircraft and Research & Technology programs, laboratory and flight test teams, safety, certification, airworthiness, academic bodies, major multi-national suppliers etc.

This requires your ability to work and prioritize as part of large transnational teams with flexibility, your technical rigor, your ability to persuade & influence, and your good project management capabilities.

You will be in the innovative, challenging, visible and multicultural heart of the Airbus systems design office in Toulouse. As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following skills and competencies:

·  Educated to a Master Degree in Aeronautical / Electronics engineering (or equivalent),
·  Advanced knowledge ideally with PhD in Signal processing and/or Automatic systems
·  Strong background in signal processing algorithms such as extended kalman filters
·  Good experience with implementation of multisensors data fusion, state estimation/motion control algorithms
·  Experience programming Matlab/simulink, C/C++ or Python
·  Knowledge of Radio Navigation systems (GNSS, ILS, RA, VOR, DME, ADF…), Inertial Systems and/or image systems (image processing, camera, radar, lidar ….)
·  Project management basic competencies
·  Language Skills: advanced level of English and minimum Intermediate level of French preferable
·  Curiosity and appetite for complex function and system development
·  Ability to learn continuously, autonomy, a sense of prioritization and ability to take a step back and drive the bigger picture
·  Ability to work with proactivity, flexibility in collaboration as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team
·  Communication, persuasion & influencing skills, decision making ability, and a pro-active approach to problem solving
·  A willingness to learn and openness to change, new methodologies &technologies
