Materials and Process Project Engineers focus on providing project related M&P support and expertise. We provide support to Telecoms projects and Earth Observation Navigation and Science projects. Projects include ExoMars Rover, Solar Orbiter and Biomass. In the department we work on materials qualifications, interface with customers such as the European Space Agency, resolve non-conformances and support project related developments. As the technical support provided could be related to any part of the spacecraft, a broad understanding of materials and processes will be developed in this role.

Tasks & accountabilities

During this internship, the activities you may undertake will include;

·  Participate in materials and processes selection, development, evaluation and qualification programmes.
·  Problem solving, data analysis, present findings
·  Assist in researching new materials and their applications

You will fully use your knowledge of material properties, and be expected to develop your understanding on how materials perform in a space environment (radiation, thermal, vacuum).
Working within a team or individually, you will interface with people at all levels – Shop Floor, Project Teams, Engineers, through to management and Customers.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company's success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Required skills

Please note our Internships are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

Hold a Materials Science, Physics or Chemistry degree, or working towards a Materials Science, Physics or Chemistry Degree.

·  Technical / IT / Behavioural / Language skills required
·  Proficient use in computers, databases, Microsoft Office
·  Previous Work Experience an advantage
·  Fluent in written and spoken English
·  Good interpersonal skills, communication and presentation capability.
·  Openness and flexibility.
