EarthCARE (Earth Clouds, Aerosols and Radiation Explorer) is the sixth Earth Explorer mission to be launched by European Space Agency (ESA) as part of its ‘Living Planet' programme. As industrial prime contractor Airbus Defence and Space is responsible for the development and manufacture of the Earth observation satellite. EarthCARE will focus on clouds, tiny particles in the atmosphere – Aerosols – and their influence on atmospheric radiation. The formation and effects of clouds will be studied. Among other things, EarthCARE will draw up vertical profiles of natural and man-made aerosols. It will register the distribution of water and ice and their transport by clouds and investigate the interrelationships between clouds and precipitation and their effects on radiation. It will derive profiles of atmospheric heating and cooling by clouds from a combination of the measured Aerosols and ‘cloud elements'.

Tasks & accountabilities

·  Support of EarthCARE project for systems reviews and progress meetings
·  Support of system engineering tasks in terms of verification & validation
·  Support of AIT tasks (e.g. test preparations, test support)
·  Support for satellite operation team
·  Developing of lean engineering methods & processes

Required skills

You offer:

·  Enrolled student within Aerospace Engineering, Engineering or similar field of study
·  Knowlege within CAD
·  German: fluent
·  English: fluent

You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently.
