Job Description

What if YOU start your journey with US!

As part of a school curriculum in initial training , you are looking for a mandatory internship or integrated into a gap year , which will allow you to validate your studies. The internship duration is 4 to 6 months maximum.

We offer you to work in a world-leading company which is at the heart of a digital transformation, at the cutting edge of research and innovation.

We are looking for a trainee who will deal with Nacelle Strakes loads assessment based on Computational fluid dynamics (m/f) who will be joining us at Airbus site in the design office in Saint-Martin du Touch in Toulouse.

This internship is to be filled from 1st of March 2020 (the dates are subject to a certain flexibility)

You will be joining the department Component Aerodynamics in charge of the design of all propulsion and air systems aeroshapes.

Nacelle cowls are fitted with one or several strakes, aiming at maximizing A/C performance in low speed conditions. The aeroloads generated by these strakes are usually sizing for the cowls.

The current assessment of these loads entails a certain level of conservatism which prevents from fully optimizing the nacelle cowls, possibly resulting in excessive weight.

Flows being massively separated around the strakes, this makes classical computational approach quite difficult.

The objective of the internship is to develop a process based on advanced meshing and Computational fluid dynamics techniques to determine as accurately as possible the flow characteristics in extreme flight conditions.

·  Tasks and Responsibilities :

You will be working under the supervision of your manager who will help you identify your professional objectives and support you in the development of your skills.

Your main activities will include:

- Put in place complex structured / unstructured meshing of complete aircraft with nacelles fitted with strakes

- Perform complex RANS computations at the limits of flight envelope

- Post-process computations to extract aeroloads generated on the strakes

- Perform a back-to-back analysis of these results vs. legacy data

·  Required skills :

You are preparing a diploma level Bac+ 5, in Aeronautics or equivalent, with specialisation in Aerodynamics and you have the following competences:

- English: ADVANCED

- French: INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED

- You are interested in Aerodynamics and Powerplant Design & Integration

- You have a good knowledge of CAD and CFD

- You are able to use proficiently such tools as CATIA

·  Soft skills:

- Rigorous, curious and autonomous

- Able to integrate into team and be a flexible team player
