Description of the job

A vacancy has arisen for an ILS Engineer with Airbus Defence and Space.

This role is to be based preferably in Stevenage but could also be based in Hawthorn.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the practical application of the Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) philosophy within Government Communications, in accordance with the Defence Standard 00-60 (00-600) for the Project Support to new build and development projects.

The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs.

Tasks & accountabilities

The key responsibilities of the role are as follows:

I/ Technical Tasks:

·  To influence system design using effective Logistical Support Analysis (LSA) tool sets.
·  Help develop the programme strategy.
·  Carry out LSA tasks, for instance Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Life Cycle Costing (LCC), Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA).
·  Review Subcontractor/Supplier ILS capabilities.
·  Review Maintenance Concept.
·  Review Concept of use or Concept of Ops.
·  Review Packaging, Handling, Storage & Transportation (PHS&T).
·  Review Support & Test Equipment (S&TE).
·  Review support facilities.
·  Review technical Ops & Maintenance documentation and training solutions.
·  Review supply chain & asset management solutions.
·  Review of Defective Report and Corrective Action System (DRACAS) and Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) databases that will assist in recommending areas for modification, change of supplier, etc.

II/ Project tasks & activities:

·  Ensure correct ILS standards and processes are applied to support customer requirements.
·  Manage the logistical requirements of a project to ensure the Service Level Agreement (SLA) between the service provider and the customer is adhered to.
·  Attend Design, Organisational review and Monthly Progress meetings.
·  Plan, adapt and tailor LSA requirements for any given project and/or service.
·  Liaise with subcontractors & customers on ILS issues.
·  Interface with other engineering departments.
·  Manage ILS deliverables for quality, critical time lines & budget requirements.
·  Provide Request For Quotation (RFQ) and Invitation To Tender (ITT) responses.
·  Present ILS solutions to internal and external agencies as required.
·  Assist in the development of mid term & long term workload plans.

Required skills

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

·  Engineering background with track record in the Satellite/Telecoms industry;
·  Skynet 5 experience is an advantage;
·  Awareness of the appropriate Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Basics, Repair Analysis and Logistics Support Analysis Planning;
·  Knowledge and use of the appropriate ILS Standards: JSP 886, DefStan 00-600 and Defstan 00-41;
·  Technical data sourcing and analysis;
·  Assess and optimise stock levels;
·  Material Requirements Planning (MRP);
·  Understand risk analysis through the application of statistical analysis;
·  Knowledge of Military Systems Design, Defence Standards and Environments;
·  Awareness of military support skills and capabilities, procedures and requirements i.e Defence Standards;
·  Previous experience supporting bids and proposals would be desirable;
·  Strong communications skills and good team spirit.
