We are looking for a Hardware Engineer to join us at Airbus Defence & Space in Portsmouth. You will join our Modem System Product team and report to the Team Lead.
You will design specialised modem hardware for secure and resilient satellite communications links, working hands-on with many facets of SatCom engineering and deal with challenging situations in real world conditions.
Your time will predominantly be spent on:
Requirements analysis and design response capture at detailed schematic and circuit board layout levels
Supporting the procurement, manufacture and integration phases, both with in-house departments and external suppliers
Acceptance testing (and fault diagnosis) at module and integrated unit levels
You will need to be able to gain UK SC Security Clearance to undertake the role.
Tasks and Accountabilities
Schematic and circuit board layout design for both digital and RF circuit boards using Mentor Graphics
Design to meet the regulatory environment related to achieving CE marks on end products (e.g. RoHS/REACH/EN62368) and producing complimentary documentation
Test and diagnosis of circuit boards in final installation
Writing Test documentation (both Design Proving and Production Level) for both individual circuit boards and the integrated unit
Your role could involve very occasional travel within the UK and worldwide.
Required Skills and Experience
Experience with mixed-signal (RF/analogue and digital) electronics design
Familiarity with Aircraft-level design and test standards (DO-254/DO-178/DO-160)
Experience in designing to meet Military/Aircraft-level environmental requirements (thermal/vibration/EMC) at both circuit board and unit level
Understanding of Model-Based System Design techniques
