The Graduate Communications (Signal Processing) Engineer role lies within the Satellite Communciations Modem department, a centre of excellence for this technology within Airbus Defence & Space. The role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the design, implementation and validation of cutting-edge Modem Products that sit at the heart of a Satellite Communications system.

Tasks

Main activities of the role may include;

·  Working with Communciation System Engineers and external stakeholders to develop and understand the key requirements and overall architecture for the technology development
·  Contributing to detailed design and analysis activities through simulation and mathematical modelling of communcation system elements
·  The implementation of Digital Signal Processing algorithms on target platforms (e.g. FPGA devices), together with their integration and testing
·  Capturing design, implemetation and test aspects and communicating them with other team members in both written and oral (presentation) form

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

·  Knowledge and experience of the design trade-offs and implementation considerations (e.g. in software and/or firmware) involved in modern digital communications systems
·  A Degree in a relevant technical field, e.g. Electrical & Electronic Engineering
·  Excellent communication and decision-making skills
·  An ability and willingness to work constuctively as part of a small team together with self-sufficiency on individual tasks

This role will be based in Portsmouth and will receive the full Airbus Defence & Space Graduate programme benefit package including an annual Salary of £27,000, plus a welcome payment of £2,000.
