Interested in design, test and implementation of satellite communications (Satcom) terminal solutions in support of Military Satcom requirements.? Then this is the role for you!

At Airbus we rely on our Engineers to keep our customers network services up and running, which means we invest heavily in our staff. We're happy to progress people through professional certification and to provide study leave.
This role is based at Portsmouth. You will be working with a team of 7 Engineers who belong to a bigger team of 50 Engineers within the Skynet 5 Engineering team.

Occasional travel is expected to the Ground Station installations and customer locations in the UK.

This post would suit someone interested in the assessment and analysis of customer requirements, definition of the Satcom terminal solution, overseeing the terminal build and undertaking the test campaign to ensure the terminal requirements are achieved.

The successful candidate will need to be eligible to gain UK SC Security Clearance to undertake the role.

Desired profile

Tasks & accountabilities

RF and satellite communications system design including:
(1) Communications system design and implementation
(2) Engineering baseline management to include Bill of Material management and controlled engineering change processes.
(3) RF system integration and implementation
(4) Use of Modems in Satcom Systems including knowledge of modem modes in stress environments.
(5) System Integration of Management Systems for Communications Networks

Required skills

We're looking for the *right* person, rather than a shopping list.
The role requires someone who is keen to learn and develop in the field of communications systems design and implementation
You will have network or systems design knowledge preferably in Satcoms
Ideally you will have exposure to the design to implementation process
You must have belief in your knowledge, but to know you don't know it all - sometimes your team members know something too.
Any experience of IP and Encryption would be nice - but we're happy to train you up in these technologies.
Must be a team player, with an organised methodical approach to achieving goals.

Education
A degree in a relevant subject (i.e. Telecomms, Communications or Electronics, Physics, Engineering-related degree)

This role will be based in Portsmouth and will receive the full Airbus Defence & Space Graduate programme benefit package including an annual Salary of £27,000, plus a welcome payment of £2,000.
