Job Description

Accountabilities

As an employee of Aerostack, a Joint Venture between Airbus and an automotive company, and in line with Airbus strategy to accelerate Zero Emission Aircraft development and build competences and skills in the technology domain, the jobholder will be accountable for:

· 
Development of operating conditions and strategies for fuel cells

· 
Implement customer requirements regarding fuel cell operation

· 
Definition of specifications / specifications

· 
Use of DoE methods for creating test protocols

· 
Supervision of tests and their evaluation

· 
Create and use simulation models to describe stack operating behavior depending on operating parameters

· 
Optimize operating strategies to support efficiency, lifetime and robustness goals by simulation, analysis and tests

· 
Defining with both the Aerostack development team and Airbus team the most suitable operating strategy for the fuel cell stack considering the system and aircraft requirements.

· 
Ensure the implementation of the defined operating strategy 

Main responsibilities

· 
Development and validation of operation parameters for different flight cycles 

· 
Develop and optimize operating strategies to achieve lifetime, efficiency and robustness goals

· 
Evolve operating strategies for high level safety operations and for diagnosis purpose

· 
Define together with Airbus the innovative and appropriate operating strategy for the Fuel cell stack considering the constraints at system and Aircraft level

· 
Interact strongly with stack cell and MEA design team in order to support stack and MEA design

· 
Establish 1D empirical and physical models for simulation operating conditions on fuel cell stack operation and run analysis for supporting trades and optimizations

· 
Check validity of compliance statements and demonstrations

· 
Ensure compliance of the used tools & processes

· 
Ensure documentation and archiving

Organization structure

The job holder reports operationally and functionally to the Head of Application and Simulation 

Skills

As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate some of the following competences & skills:

· 
Master degree in mechanical engineering or similar

· 
Expert in fuel cell technology, fuel cell operation and fuel cell stack testing 

· 
Competent in thermo- and fluid dynamics

· 
Competent in creating empirical and 1D models to optimise operating strategies using Matlab, Python and statistic programs e.g. Cornerstone (DOE)

· 
Experience in electrochemistry 

· 
Familiar with the process & tools for requirements management

· 
Good communicator and customer listener

· 
Pragmatic mindset and ambition for simplicity 

· 
Capability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment

· 
English and German fluent, French is a benefit
