Description of the job

A vacancy for a "Engineer for Electric Propulsion Components (m/f)" has arisen within Ariane Group. The successful applicant will join "JOLS5 - System & Product Engineering Team" in Lampoldshausen.

Tasks & accountabilities

The Engineer for Electric Propulsion System Development supporting the department by development of electronic components for electrical propulsion system and chemical propulsion system of satellites.

His tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Perform design activities, sets the guidelines and framework of design targets, interfaces between different design activities for space vehicle propulsion subsystems and/or components
·  Evaluate feasibility, efficiency and performance of respective solutions
·  Prepare the justification document of the proposed design
·  Input: Requirements provided by system architecture & validation field or functional chain / vehicle (sub-)system field and project definition (planning, cost).
·  Output: Delivery of the definition and justification files and the associated global design documentation for space vehicle propulsion subsystems and/or components
·  Analyse design & project requirements and perform trade off between various design solutions for space vehicle propulsion subsystems and/or components
·  Assess detailed performance of selected solution and its compliance with the specification
·  Contribute to definition of performance requirements of lower level elements
·  Contribute to definition of validation & test plan, and assess the results
·  Analyse any deviations during the manufacturing phase and assess its acceptability
·  Propose improvement and R&D actions within the space vehicle propulsion subsystems respective technical fields

Required skills

·  A good comprehension of High power or high frequency Electronics and Electrical Engineering
·  More than 3 years work experience as an engineer
·  At least 2 years of experience in power electronic, high-voltage electronic design, electrical equipment definition
·  Good knowledge on satellite propulsion systems
·  Toolskills in LabView, EcoSimPro, Matlab, SAP, MS Office
·  English: Advanced
·  German: Fluent
·  Positive, open and team player
·  Structured thinking and conscientious
·  Writing and reporting in a synthetic manner
