Job Description

We are looking for a Digital Signal Processing / FPGA Engineer to join us at Airbus Defence & Space in Portsmouth. You will join our Earth Observation, Science and Navigation group (ENS) and report to the Head of Instruments.

You will work on the latest tools to exploit advanced FPGA products from Xilinx and Atmel, on state-of-the art developments for a new space-borne environmental radar satellite for the European Space Agency (ESA).

You will be subject to a BPSS (including criminal record) check.

Tasks and Responsibilities

· 
Analyse requirements and produce FPGA designs for Space applications using VHDL on Xilinx Kintex Ultrascale and/or Actel target devices

· 
Analyse and maintain budgets to meet requirements, considering environmental factors and margins

· 
Develop and implement verification strategies, test benches, plans and procedures to ensure verification and validation of performance

· 
Prepare documentation in compliance with ECSS requirements on ASIC and FPGA development: ECSS-Q-ST-60-02C

· 
Prepare and present oral and written information for formal project reviews and customer progress meetings

· 
Participate in hardware testing and debugging with embedded firmware

You will be required to travel semi-regularly to support the project.

Required Skills

· 
Experienced in DSP design and firmware development with advanced Xilinx FPGAs or similar

· 
Able to integrate complex FPGAs and digital boards

· 
Experience in use of Mentor graphics tools including Signal & Power Integrity analysis
