Job Description

The Role

The LSRC are looking for an experienced Systems Architect to design and implement systems architecture that will meet business needs within a highly secure environment working on an MOD site.

Reporting directly to the LSRC Capabilities Development Manager your responsibilities will include the gathering of requirements and functional specifications, assessment of the current hardware and software solutions in place in order to identify areas in need of improvement, and overseeing the development of the capabilities.
 

Systems Architect Responsibilities:

·  You will act as an visionary to proactively help define the direction for future IT Products and Services and validates product designs.
·  You will collaborate with other Solution Architects, systems analysts, and developers to deliver the highest quality solutions via cutting edge technologies.
·  You will define models, including solution patterns, to guide solution decisions.
·  You will participate in all phases of the application development life cycle including research and design, development, testing, implementation and support.
·  Build and integrate information systems to meet the facilities needs with a mind on integration with both Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) and Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) equipment.
·  Assess the systems architecture currently in place and working with the System Administrators and Operations team to recommend solutions to improve it.
·  Resolve technical problems as they arise as the technical SME for the facility.

Systems Architect Requirements:

·  Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
·  Proven experience in engineering and software architecture design.
·  Previous project management experience is advantageous.
·  In-depth understanding of infrastructure.
·  Knowledge and understanding of software development products and methodology.
·  Sound knowledge of various operating systems and databases.
·  Ability to communicate complex technical solutions issues in a simple no technical way and apply information to the appropriate audience.
·  Ability to produce high-quality documentation detailing solutions with appropriate diagrams observing the JSP 604 standard.
·  Experience of change management within an ITIL guided environment.
·  Experience working within an MOD secure environment.

You will need to be eligible to gain UK SC Security Clearance to undertake the role

This role is based at Blandford Forum, Dorset, with occasional requirements for business travel within the UK and abroad
