An Airbus Craft Apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to gain qualifications with no fees, whilst acquiring new skills through vocational training, and a regular salary.

As a Plant Electrical Maintenance Craft Apprentice at Airbus you will follow the Maintenance programme, to gain a NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma (in Engineering Electrical Maintenance), plus a Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering and a HNC in Electrical Engineering.

Your first year on the Plant Electrical Maintenance Craft Apprenticeship programme will be spent at college completing the Level 2 Foundation course; learning about engineering operations and achieving a number of technical certificates and company required qualifications.

As an apprentice following the Plant Electrical Maintenance programme, you will attend Coleg Cambria (Deeside Campus), and on completion of our 38 month programme will become a Skilled Electrical Maintenance Fitter.

Tasks & accountabilities

During your time in the Airbus factory, Plant Electrical Craft Apprentices work within all of the Broughton production areas maintaining and supporting the production machinery and tooling.

As a Maintenance Electrician, you will be responsible for carrying out routine planned Preventative Planned Maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs on all Industrial Maintenance assets with the Airbus Broughton plant.

Your main duties will be to respond to asset breakdowns and ensure that the PPM plan is carried out to a high competent level and in a safe efficient manner. Through your training they will have the ability to demonstrate effective troubleshooting on all plant assets including automated manufacturing systems, multi axis machining centers and treatments plants. Whilst day to day fault diagnosing within a highly competent team you will maintain technical specialist equipment, such as programmable logic controllers (PLC), computerised systems and robotic devices.

Required skills

In order to be eligible for this exciting apprenticeship opportunity, candidates must have a minimum of five GCSEs including:

·  Grade B or 6 in Maths, or Grade C or 4 in Maths plus a BTEC Level 2 in Engineering.

·  Grade C or 4 in English Language and Science (either core and additional / double award, or Physics is Science was taken as individual subjects), plus other subjects at grade C or 4.

We can consider other qualifications such as Engineering BTEC Level 2, Engineering Diploma, Principle Learning, PEO Level individual subjects), 2 and Pathways to Apprenticeships as two GCSEs. Alternative qualifications must be in addition to the core GCSE subjects stated above.
