Job Description

Airbus Helicopters in Donauwörth is looking for a motivated intern (f/m/d) for the development and evaluation of Obstacle Avoidance Manoeuvres for Autonomous Helicopter Flight.

Working time frame: full-time with 35 hours per week (in flexitime)

Start: Summer Semester 2021

Duration: 5-6 months

What can you expect?

Airbus Helicopters is engaged in a federally funded research and technology project MASTER 360 together with industry and research partners. The project aims to automate the landing and takeoff flight phases of helicopter flight using sensor-based obstacle detection and automatic avoidance manoeuvres. Through this project, Airbus Helicopters aims to develop and mature the technologies necessary to support autonomy for our next generation vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.

We are looking for a highly motivated student (f/m/d) to pursue an internship with us at the forefront of helicopter avionics! You will join a multi-national team in a friendly working environment. What we offer is a challenging and versatile assignment including following activities:

· 
Conceptual analysis of the critical helicopter flight phases (approach, landing, takeoff, departure)

· 
Requirements specification for multi-sensor fusion and obstacle avoidance

· 
Development and integration of simulation models into a flight simulator

· 
Validation through pilot in the loop simulations and associated data analysis

The scope and tasks may be slightly adapted according to the project status on the date of joining and the student’s own competences.

You offer:

· 
You are a registered student (f/m/d) within aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or a similar field of study with a good academic record

· 
You have a strong interest in the aviation domain that is demonstrated through academic and/or extra-curricular activities

· 
You have good knowledge of MS Office and decent programming skills

· 
You have expert language skills in English, German would be a plus

· 
You are a team player, communicative and have an independent working style
