Airbus, the world’s leading Aircraft manufacturer has exciting new job opportunities to join its Engineering teams at Filton, UK.
Core activities include the design, engineering and support for Airbus wings, fuel systems and landing gear Integration.
We develop our people to work on systems, structures and aerodynamics research, development and test facilities.

A vacancy has arisen to join the Assembly Technology team of Materials Processes and Test in Airbus UK. You will work as a fastening and assembly principles specialist supporting all aircraft programmes through research design, production and in-service

Your role will require close cooperation within the transnational team as well as with various internal and external partners such as engineering, manufacturing, procurement, quality and external suppliers.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

o Development and deployment of mature MP&T Assembly Technologies for industrial application
o Definition and lead of qualification test programmes.
o Lead and manage Research and Technology projects in the fastening and assembly processes perimeter.
o Ensure support for improvement projects (performance improvement, cost/ time reduction)
o Analyse qualification and test data in order to verify the structural performance of fastening and assembly technologies.
o Provide engineering inputs into product and process specifications. Prepare technical documentation (qualification documents, reports and specifications) in order to communicate technical requirements and outputs
o Provide Assembly Technology support to other Airbus departments, suppliers and customers.

Required skills

You will have the following skills and experience

o Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering or related discipline
o Relevant background in mechanical engineering, aerospace materials, and aerospace manufacturing processes
o Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and across all departments, set objectives and prioritize to time, cost and quality
o In conjunction with other members of the team deliver integrated engineering solutions within agreed timescales.
o Ability to perform in a reactive environment managing several tasks in parallel.
o Ability to liaise negotiate with Engineering, Manufacturing and Plants
o Manage all allocated tasks and activities ensuring they are correctly planned, resourced, monitored and executed to achieve required quality & customer time scales.
o Knowledge of aerospace assembly methods, modelling and simulation, lightning strike protection, and additive layer manufacturing would be a benefit
