Hyperloop is a new mode of transportation consisting of a tube held in a partial vacuum, and in which capsules carrying passengers and / or cargo operate. Hyperloop is neither a train, plane nor automobile but instead encompasses aspects from all of these modes of transport, including considerations relating to the space industry. This project provides an exciting opportunity to develop, from concept to prototype, a complex system for operation in a unique land-based environment. Operating in an agile manner, the Safran Landing Systems (Safran LS) Hyperloop development team is situated within an established organization and thus equipped with decades of landing systems expertise. The solution proposed by Safran LS combines three key technologies: electric braking, the extension / retraction system and the electric taxi system.
Description:
As a System Modeling and Performance Intern on the Hyperloop program you will be responsible for: developing and maintaining system models required for the verification of various system performance requirements; assisting the design and stress team; supporting the control system development software in-loop (SIL) testing.
Your work will primarily focus on the modeling and simulation development for the Hyperloop capsule landing gear system related with some or all of the following subjects:
• Extension/retraction and vehicle height control system analysis
• Gas spring / shock absorber design
• Landing gear ground/track loads
• Landing gear touch down and simulation
• Landing gear architecture configuration stability analysis
• Virtual system/test rig modeling and simulation
• Co-simulation between multiple simulation software packages
• Landing gear shimmy modelling and analysis
• Model documentation and configuration mgmt.
• Preparation of Simulation/Performance Plan and Reports
Working in an agile, start-up mentality team, you may be called to contribute to time sensitive topics, such as engineering design and analysis activities. The successful intern will use their baseline technical knowledge and outside of the box thinking to perform analyses to support design solutions validation and verification activities for a new mode of transportation. The intern will be a member of an international team within the Safran organization
