Purpose :

Responsible for partnering with Manager Industrial Engineering to improve productivity and lowering unit cost in DC’s.  Help to identify and evaluate problems and suggest improvements to production, distribution, packaging material usage and methods of operations by using proven Industrial Engineering techniques to reduce unit cost, improve quality and productivity.

This position location is listed as Herzo, but the primary working location will be Uffenheim and Scheinfeld.

Key Responsibilities:

•        Identify and evaluate problems and develop improvements to production, layout, internal flows, utilization, packaging material usage and methods of operations by using proven industrial engineering techniques.

•        In conjunction with Manager Industrial Engineering, recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.

•        Responsible for running cost analysis as it relates to operational, technological, or labor expenses

•        Conduct feasibility studies of various projects to determine the value of an investment and provide an economical justification for capital appropriations

•        Partner with Manager Industrial Engineering to make recommendations for investment in new technologies and improvement of efficiency within the warehouse workflow, including warehouse decision making capabilities, workplace safety, and customer service standards

•        Serve as an outside consultant to the warehouse operation by acting as a change agent for the business

•        Responsible for supporting capital projects from conception to final acceptance.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities :   

•        Ability to  utilize recognized industrial engineering techniques effectively to produce tangible results

•        Ability to work independently under minimal guidance on several projects simultaneously while adhering to specified deadlines

•        Ability to identify, evaluate, and develop project solutions and recommendations

•        Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities

•        Strong project management and organization skills, structured approach to assignments

•        Strong communication and presentation skills

•        Basic understanding of improvement tools as SIX SIGMA, Kaizen, 5S, time and motion studies

•        Proficient is presentation preparation and use of Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project 

•        Degree in Industrial Engineering or closely related field

•        Preferred 1 – 3 years’ experience in a distribution center environment.

•        Background in Industrial Engineering technology and applications

•        Competency with Excel, Word, Access and MS Project is required.

•        Experience with AutoCad is highly desirable

•        Ability to travel as needed.
