Purpose :

To assist in engineering market leading concepts, components, products and processes, which improve brand competitiveness through product and technology leadership and enable adidas to deliver added value to consumers and athletes.

Key Accountabilities :

· Carry out systems engineering research, design and analysis, transferring results into unique market leading processes or products, which are based on athletes and consumer needs.
· Use sustainability engineering knowledge and experience to drive engineering related projects aimed at Future team needs.
· Establish partnerships with key internal and external partners.
· Work with the Future project teams to increase the sustainability of components, products and processes, providing clear boundaries for design, increasing design freedom. Identify and clarify product parameters that effect performance. Constantly search out engineering and consumer insights that could lead to innovation opportunities.
· Support in preparing engineering presentations. Educating and training people by sharing knowledge on an on-going basis. Support 'in-line' product groups with knowledge and expertise.

Engineering Research and Testing

· Carry out engineering research including literature research.
· Work together with internal and external research partners.
· Evaluate and interpret test results in terms of their functional characteristics and their impact on athletic products.
· Act as a technical consultant to the designers, sports scientists and project teams.

Development of Sustainability/Systems Engineering Competence

· Develop the area of Sustainability/Systems Engineering within the Future team.
· Build up an effective information network, which provides quick access to the latest innovations in the field.

Project Management and Communication

· Define and maintain engineering guidelines for product development.
· Build up a frequent information flow to designers, sports scientists and project teams.
· Supply legal department with material data to aid product / technology / innovation / process / design protection.
· Use dedicated resources in the most economic manner

Knowledge Skills and Abilities :

· Understanding of Sustainability and Systems Engineering
· Experience with complex engineering systems
· Project management experience
· Experience in Life Cycle Analysis
· Experience with academic and applied research

Qualifications :

· University Degree in Sustainability or Systems Engineering or related field
