My client, a large global FMCG organisation based in Waltham on the Wolds, Leicestershire is looking for Trade Analyst. Responsible for the control and reporting of all elements of NSV, from GSV through trade to the final NSV
This involves the management and co-ordination of trade spend data through the relevant system (Compass) with the correct matching of spend with despatches
Continuously improve the budgetary and financial control on the biggest budget in the market by working with the Customer Development Team to ensure they stay within the budgets set by the business.
Key Responsibilities
On-going maintenance of the Compass database
Managing the event reconciliations and monitoring ongoing reserve status- Ensure CAS promos are all approved
Reconciliation of all systems involved in Trade spend - Atlas, Helios & CAS
Ensure any mismatches are investigated with priority
Management of centrally held discretionary funds
CDM support on trade financial issues
Meeting with the CDM's to perform detailed account reviews
Complete all period end responsibilities for trade expenditure
Ensure accruals are correctly processed into Atlas
Upload Volumes, GSV, LTD, ASOI, EDLP, Closeout, NSR, Retro, Bonus and PPD to Helios
Make PPD adjustment in CAS
Process any Period End adjustments that need to be made through CAS
Trade Balance Sheet reconciliation and justify the Balance Sheet uploading to Blackline
Dual Source adjustments
RIG Calculations
NSV Schedule
Special Packs Report for Sales
Period End AR Review & Report
Own periodic reports that have NSV performance by brand, as well as historic trend reports. Ensure there is focus on continuous improvement for reporting, pro-actively looking for ways to enhance the information provided to stakeholders as the business moves forward.
Own and drive the Control agenda for trade spend, ensuring we have the appropriate controls in place and continue to monitor and improve this going forwards by working with CDMs.
Support Account Co-Pilots with necessary key reports
Be the point of escalation for Petcare Accounts Receivable Customer facing issues
Ensure that any escalations are dealt with and resolved correctly, ensuring the relevant CDM is involved.
Lead the claims agenda with Customer Development by presenting at Customer Ops every period.
Own the Sales NPR process and tracking YTD actuals and budget control by account
Control and approve CAS access requests in collaboration with account co-pilots.
Provide local insight into any system projects relating to trade spend
Weekly AR Ledger review
Ensure Audit Claims from customers are dealt with efficiently
Bad Debt Accrual review
Trade Balance sheet accrual forecast
AR Direct Cash Forecast
Context and Scope
This role manages the whole of our trade spend budget, which is a high focus area and a significant driver of our top line performance and profitability. It is therefore a critical role in terms of ensuring the accuracy of our NSV at the end of the period, communicating the results and trends clearly as well as executing strong budget control to ensure we remain within our financial shape at year end.
The job holder will need to ensure they have a wide understanding of the business environment in order to challenge effectively. This will involve building relationships with people outside of S&F. This provides a great opportunity for the job holder to develop their breadth and business acumen.
This role can also help by identifying trade-off options within the portfolio to help optimise trade spend.They will need to challenge and influence budget holders to ensure they are accruing correctly, and help track progress to ensure they remain on budget.They will frequently be required to give guidance and make recommendations with incomplete facts. Therefore dealing with ambiguity, sound judgement, interpersonal savvy and strong influencing are as important as good analytical skills and be able to build strong relationships with their stakeholders, ensuring good customer focus and priority setting given the amount of accounts and promotions that need reviewing.
Education & Professional Qualification
The job holder needs to have a strong interest in systems and a proven track record of driving change in processes. The ability to develop and deliver training across different levels of users is needed. Ability to work to deadlines, good judgement skills and a drive for results are required.
Knowledge/Experience
ESSENTIAL
Experience in relevant areas of finance.
Experience in co-piloting or budgets.
Helios or SAP knowledge.
A strong understanding of systems, specifically how ERP and similar systems function.
Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
Working knowledge & understanding of key financial statements
Advanced Excel skills.
DESIRABLE
Project management experience
Strong skills in stakeholder management
Experience of controls frameworks
Hands on accounting experience, including period end processes
