Job description

Our client is looking for an exceptional leader to manage and motivate a global team of Software Development and QA Engineers.

Responsibilities:

* You will lead the Dublin activation engineering team and indirectly lead the associated team.
* Deliver high quality software in a timely manner. This requires that the team understands the need for high-performance, reliability and security, in addition to delivering the basic functionality that has been requested.
* Use a broad range of software development capabilities and skills to deliver milestones in a predictable manner, while working with program stakeholders to ensure expectations and acceptance criteria are clearly defined and achievable.
* Communicate technical issues in terms of customer impact.
* Mentor the team and share information to enable others to be more effective.
* Impart knowledge about how software tools, applications, and complex systems work (including, networking, configuration, security, and inter-system interaction) and provide mentoring that results in sound engineering decisions, troubleshooting and software maintenance skills.
* Work to enhance the capabilities of the product and manage technical debt, where applicable.

Job Requirements:

* Software development experience in a web application / transaction processing environment, with at least two years being in a management role.
* Experience managing software development / test teams.
* Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts pictorially, orally, or in writing.
* Good understanding of classical and modern software development lifecycles.
* In-depth knowledge of the Java programming language.
* Extensive experience using one or more Java EE engines (e.g., WebLogic, JBoss)
* Knowledge of J2EE design patterns
* Experience with RDBMS systems and an understanding of data structures and data normalization.
* Experience with SQL including query analysis and optimization.
* Knowledge of AJAX and JQuery
* Knowledge of test automation tools
* Strong scripting skills (e.g., shell, Perl, Python)
* Experience developing scalable, high performance systems
