We are seeking to recruit an additional Shift Supervisor to work in the factory at Stoke reporting directly to the Production Manager

Applicants must be qualified in a Lean Manufacturing Qualification (eg Lean six sigma green belt). Ideally but not essential have experience of hot glass techniques.

The successful candidate will have experience and a qualification in people management.

Ability to lead a group of individuals, getting the best out of them and developing them into a high-performing team.

To ensure that the requirements of the Company are met in respect of Health and Safety at Work.

To manage and develop the resource within the area of responsibility (Team leaders, setters, operators and machinery). To ensure such employees work as a committed, motivated and high-performing team.

To ensure that products comply with Company requirements and with International standards, as appropriate. To ensure that the requirements of the Company's quality management system, in respect of production activities, are met at all times.

To identify future training needs of operators, providing training plans to the Production Manager and playing an active part in the implementation of such plans.

·  JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

·  Work with other members of the manufacturing team to achieve the department's quality, safety, customer service and financial targets.

·  Work with management in helping to recruit and train employees and identifying personal growth opportunities for employees as appropriate.

·  Support ongoing lean / continuous improvement initiatives.

·  Assess suggestions and provide information on proposal, cost benefits, savings and timing necessary for justification and expenditure.

·  Set weekly targets for performance evaluation for trainees.

·  Ensure that daily shift meetings are carried out effectively, including all shift members contributing to the process of identifying CI opportunities.

·  Conduct return to work interviews.

·  fulfil all responsibilities as defined in the Company's quality manual

·  To monitor and observe in conjunction with Inspection the quality of product being produced by all operators.

·  To ensure all personnel (including visitors and contractors; not just own operators) within the area of the post-holder's responsibility (factory floor) are adhering to all Health and Safety requirements for that area,

·  To ensure housekeeping is to the required standard at all times.

·  To work closely with other members of the Manufacturing team to ensure efficient completion of the production plan.

·  To question and update operator's lost time sheets on a daily basis.

·  To ensure shift handover is completed in an efficient effective way.

·  To raise requisitions for consumable materials, tooling, jigs and fixtures to meet departmental requirements.

·  To carry out regular assessments of setters/operators/trainees and to advise of their progress and suitability for the role.

·  To ensure all work is carried out in accordance with documented procedures and comply with the requirements of ISO standards.

·  To ensure all testing facilities are clean tidy and in a suitable condition for testing.

·  To assist in the costing process (developing routings and structures) of any new products.

·  To monitor and maintain time and attendance records daily. To take disciplinary action in line with Company policy and the Site Agreement, when necessary.

·  To identify suitability of equipment through liaison with suppliers and Industrial Engineers.

·  To raise service requests when machinery, tooling or services need repair or maintenance. To ensure such equipment is acceptable with regard to safe working upon return.

·  To work with Health and Safety Representatives in monitoring and inspecting areas of responsibility for safety hazards. To report any problems to the Production Manager or Engineering Manager for action if outside the job-holder's capability.

·  To undertake health and safety risk assessments of tasks for which the job-holder has been trained, such as manual handling of loads. To keep records of such assessments.

·  To incorporate any safety requirements in respect of equipment, materials and processes into operator training and instructions. To ensure that designated safety equipment and clothing is used.

·  To be responsible for pro-active evaluation and control of risk and for identifying developing risk.

·  To fulfil all responsibilities as defined in the Company's Quality Manual relating to the position of Production Supervisor.

·  To carry out such other duties as may be required to achieve the overall purpose of the job.
