Research Administrator

Our client, a leading college are currently recruiting for a Research Administrator to work closely with the Faculty and School Research Managers and School Research Officer to ensure the smooth running of the Business School's research functions.

·  Location: City of London

·  Pay: £15.78 p/hour

·  Type: Temporary

·  Hours: 35 hours per week, Mon-Fri

·  Duration: 6 Months

·  Start Date: ASAP

Main Responsibilities:

Research Excellence Framework

·  To support the School's preparations for future REF submissions, with a particular emphasis on updating and maintaining databases and undertaking compliance checks.

Finances

·  To track expenditure on seed funding schemes, and to monitor and record project outcomes, outputs and key performance metrics.

·  To process and track expense claims for three Research Centres and external research grants.

Postgraduate Research

·  To provide support to the doctoral programme, including responding to queries from prospective and existing doctoral students, processing and tracking expense claims and assisting with studentship applications.

Research Administration

·  To assist in the analysis of research grant performance and production of management information reports.

·  To provide ad hoc support for the Distinguished Visitor Programme and Qatar Centre for Banking and Finance.

·  To collate and distribute papers for research committees.

·  To support events related to research and postgraduate studies.

·  To update webpages and information on SharePoint and related systems as necessary.

Research and Researchers

·  To build and maintain effective relationships with academic and professional services staff across Departments, Faculty, and the College.

Requirements:

Essential

·  Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

·  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·  Proficient IT skills (including databases, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

·  Excellent organisational skills with a high degree of attention to detail

·  Experience of working in an administration environment

·  Experience of finance administration and budgets, ideally in a HEI environment

·  Experience of using and manipulating electronic resources

·  Ability to manage time effectively, work flexibly and prioritise workload.

·  Ability to contribute effectively as part of a team and work without close supervision

·  Ability to maintain accurate records of expenditure payments and raise invoices

·  Able to work discretely with confidential matters

Desirable

·  Knowledge of research agenda in HEIs

·  Experience of working with and supporting committees

·  Experience or knowledge of academic publishing

·  Experience of website management
