Procurement Assistant

Our client, a unique law enforcement organisation which both investigate and prosecute the most serious economic crime, are looking to recruit a Procurement Assistant to provide administrative support to the Commercial section in the provision of goods and services.

·  Location: Central London

·  Pay: £13.40 per hour

·  Start Date: ASAP

·  Duration: 3-5 Months

·  Type: Temporary

·  Hours: Monday-Friday, 36hrs

Job Description

This post covers a wide range of responsibilities and areas of work. The Commercial section is a small team that work closely together in a pressurised service delivery environment.

Principal Responsibilities;

·  Provide administrative support for day to day management of all service contracts. Liaising with supplier contractors to provide Value for Money (VFM) and improve service performance.

·  Assisting with Commercial projects.

·  Managing the Commercial and Counsel contracts to monitor performance, ensuring the required standards are met.

·  If required, assisting switchboard calls in line with guidance provided by Strategic Relations.

·  Acting as the first point of contact for the Commercial inbox, drafting counsel engagement letters and contracts.

·  Promoting VFM within the department, keeping contract records up to date, including external records where appropriate.

·  Ensuring that customer expectations are met through managing the customer requirements in a proactive and professional manner.

·  To develop and maintain relationships with all staff and suppliers to ensure smooth operation of the procurement function.

·  To develop and maintain appropriate systems of internal control to enable the Commercial section to operate effectively, efficiently and provide MI when required such as the updating of spreadsheets and the procurement system.

Skills/Experience

·  Experience of working within a procurement department.

·  Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification, either Certificate or Diploma (D)

·  Knowledge and practical experience of public sector procurement regulations and EU procurement directives.

·  Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with staff and external contacts at all levels, both specialists and non-specialists.

·  Proficient IT skills.

·  A methodical but flexible, well organised approach to work is required to balance the needs of a number of projects.

·  The ability to learn quickly and work under pressure, maintaining a high level of accuracy and detail.
