Job Title: Online Media Assistant
Salary: £15.73 per hour
Temporary: 6 weeks initially
Full Time: 35 hours per week

We are currently recruiting on behalf of one of the UK's most prestigious Universities for an Online Media Assistant within their Communications department. The ideal candidate will have sound administrative experience with some experience of using Social Media as an effective marketing tool and also a keen eye for detail.

Job Description

Job Summary: The Online Media Assistant prepares and distributes videos and podcasts for use on the University website and external media channels - YouTube, SoundCloud and iTunes. Videos and podcasts will be created and supplied by a range of internal and external suppliers, with the post holder's role being to post-process, publish and curate via online media systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
1.Prepare and distribute videos and podcasts for use on the University website and external media channels.
E.g. Respond to upload requests from content providers; check content against quality and branding guidelines; convert video and audio files to the correct format; upload and publish content on the website and/or external platforms; archive media files, and keep a record of all upload jobs.
2.Provide public event podcasts and videos for use on the website and external media channels
E.g. Keep a record of requests; liaise with internal stake holders, retrieve, edit and post-process audio recordings using Adobe Audition; ID3 tag and rename media files; upload media files via FTP; add podcasts and videos to the media publishing database; archive media files
3.Curate and manage content on external media channels - YouTube, SoundCloud and iTunes
E.g. Upload and publish videos and podcasts, create live events on YouTube, create and manage playlists and collections, ensure that naming conventions are used and that titles and tags are optimised for search engines, respond to user comments.
4.Respond to enquiries from content contributors.
E.g. Provide usage statistics, provide advice and support on how to publish video/audio, provide advice on copyright and licencing.
General Responsibilities
5.Provide support and sharing of knowledge to colleagues where required. In particular, in any area in which the post holder has expert knowledge.
E.g. Coaching colleagues and assisting colleagues with tasks; recommending solutions; etc.
6.Liaise with stakeholders in support of the provision of the university video and audio content
E.g. Contribute to project meetings; respond to emails and phone calls; etc.
7.Contribute to and follow policies and procedures.
E.g. Provide advice on best-practice; promote procedures and guidelines to contributors; etc.
8.Contribute to the provision of the University digital communications as required.
E.g. Cover for a colleague on leave; assist a colleague with a lengthy/complex task; etc.
9.Contribute to the provision of digital communications as required.

10.Report to, and carry out such duties as requested by, immediate manager.
E.g. Deal with incidents affecting availability of website; escalate issues and risks; etc.
