Multi-Skilled Labourer

Adecco Leamington Spa Are delighted to be recruiting for our Coventry based client, who are looking for 2 multi-skilled Labourers to carry out statutory testing of electrical and mechanical systems. To carry out basic repairs to electrical and mechanical systems. To assist the Electrical and Mechanical sections in the general execution of their duties, providing support with the preparation for electrical installation work. This will be on a fixed-term contract until February 2021.

Job Description:

·  To prioritise own workload and tasks in consultation with Electrical and Mechanical Operatives or Supervisor, considering where the problem is, the nature of the problem, the number of people affected and the usage of the building.

·  To complete timesheets, maintain service records and other work-related paperwork in priority order commensurate with grade requirements.

·  To maintain the tools and equipment for which the electricians are responsible.

·  Assisting qualified craftsmen in the provision of routine and reactive electrical and mechanical maintenance on a variety of systems as generated by the computerised docket system.

·  To provide a planned maintenance service ensuring compliance with statutory testing and inspections including;

-Emergency Lighting Testing

-Fire Alarm Testing

-DHW & LPW Systems including cleaning strainers, glass traps, and pump operations

·  Collect and dispose of used or old electrical equipment, including batteries, in accordance with Health and Safety/Environmental regulations.

·  Liaise with Estates and other departmental staff to advise and assist with planned and reactive maintenance, causing minimum disruption.

·  Undertake daily maintenance checks on vehicles used within section including oil, fuel, tyres, windscreen wipers, mileage and keeping appropriate records.

Knowledge & Skills:

·  Proven previous practical experience of working within the electrical/building services industry and/or: NVQ II or equivalent in a relevant subject.

·  Effective communication and customer service skills.

·  Proven ability to resolve problems and use own initiative.

·  Experience of planned preventative maintenance systems.

·  Safe use of Hydraulic/Manual lifting platforms.

·  Safe use and erection of mobile tower scaffolding.

·  Safe Entry into Confined spaces using emergency escape breathing apparatus.

·  Knowledge of fire alarm systems fire alarm systems in accordance to BS 5839 is desirable.

·  Awareness of asbestos materials and non-licensed removal works.

Special Circumstances:

Due to the nature of this post it is necessary to work in all areas of the University at any time, with an important need to assess the safety of certain environments and recognise the hazards within them. Examples are:

·  High Voltage sub-stations

·  Hazardous Laboratories

·  Confined Spaces (roof spaces, underground ducts)

·  Sewage Pumping Station

·  External (All weather conditions)

·  Workshops - Noise, chemicals, fumes etc.

·  Office Environments - use of VDU's

·  High Level, Roofs, Access Equipment

Salary & Benefits:

·  Fixed term (until Feb 2021).

·  Starting at £18,009 with a salary scale reaching £19,133.
