Our client, a well known and successful organisation are looking to recruit an Information Assistant to work within Higher Education.

The purpose of the Information Assistant role is to facilitate and contribute to an excellent, customer focused service by proactively:

*Carrying out a range of administrative tasks focussed on the timely and efficient procurement of library information materials (including books, journals, theses, standing orders, e-books, e-journals, digital course readings and interlibrary loans)
*Participating in collection development and management projects, including stock moves, as required
*Providing administrative support for other projects and activities taking place across the CaRS department, as required. This may include providing support to Archive Services or Special Collections.

Service Delivery

Information Assistants will work across the Collection Development team to carry out a variety of tasks, which may include:

*Unpacking newly acquired print books, multimedia, journals, standing orders and other resources
*Checking inventory accuracy and physical condition
*Checking in items on the library management system, processing and filing invoices
*Acting on claims/retrieval procedures as directed
*Processing items as required
*Preparing packages for despatch across site or externally
*Withdrawing obsolete resources from the library management system
*Assisting in the acquisition of library materials, referring more complex queries and problems onto the Acquisitions Services Officers
*Processing and fulfilling requests for digital course readings in a timely manner, scanning printed items to a high standard of accessibility
*Processing and fulfilling requests for interlibrary loans in a timely manner
*Checking, amending and updating metadata on different systems, including the library management system, the online reading list system, and the university's virtual learning environment
*Participating in the provision of timely and helpful responses to requests and queries from customers
*Participating in collection management activities such as moving, measuring, stock checking and disposing of books, journals and other library materials
*Distributing incoming post
