We are currently seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor for our well established client based in Newport to start immediately. Position is a temporary/contract role intitally , however there is a possibility of a permanent position for the right applicant.

Accountabilities

Conduct safety audits and on-site inspections to identify workplace hazards and unsafe equipment, working practices or working conditions

·  Liaise with senior management and operational users in conducting safety tours

·  Ensure PPE is being wore correctly at all times

·  Ensure pre user checks are completed by machine operators

·  Enquire Actively retrieve and answer health and safety queries when on site

·  Investigate all non-compliance health and safety issues

·  Maintain relevant environment systems

Ensure the depot meets standards of compliance

·  Support the completion of permit to work forms for all external contractors

·  Complete site tours for visitors and external contractors

·  Induct all new employees, visitors and external contractors

·  Ensure Health and Safety documentation is stored electronically

·  Contribute to on site internal and external audit process

·  Ensure that first aid supplies and resources are available in accordance with regulations and the organisation's health and safety policies

·  Participate during legal proceeding when claims of potential compliance breaches arise

·  Ensure site complies with environmental laws, regulations and Company Corporate Standards.

Recommend changes to working processes and conditions to ensure that all employees, visitors and external contractors have a safe and healthy working environment and working with Group HSE ensure that the organisation complies with all current and future regulations and laws, and the organisation's safety policies and procedures

·  Analyse standard operating procedures to ensure they meet current legislation, updating when necessary

·  Analyse the severity of hazards and prioritise the remedial actions required to correct

·  Engage maintenance and/ or contractors to correct non-compliance health and safety issues

·  Research appropriate external providers to supply corrective work for non-compliance issues

·  Liaise with senior management to communicate costings and forecasts

Maintain and analyse records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern

·  Ensure the completion of first aid reporting

·  Ensure actions are completed and signed off in ProSafety

·  Attend review meetings with senior Health and Safety advisor

·  Review all accidents, agree outcomes and complete any remedial actions required for compliance

Educate and train the organisation's workforce on health and safety to ensure that they understand and comply with the organisation's health and safety policies and procedures

·  Analyse the health and safety training database to identify areas of action

·  Design, coordinate and deliver individual and group health and safety interventions

·  Design and display health and safety visuals

·  Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions on completion

·  Use evaluation data to apply continuous improvement to health and safety interventions

·  Select, train and evaluate designated workplace safety or first aid officers to ensure that they understand and can perform the responsibilities of their role

Miscellaneous or ad hoc business requirements

·  Manage specific projects or undertake specific project activity as determined by the business or line manager

·  Travel to specific locations in order to undertake role requirements as required

Technical competencies

Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, Success Factors, Therefore, ProSafety, Action Tracker, IOSH, SAP, NEBOSH

Hours: Monday to Friday - 39 hours per week

Salary : In the region of £28,000 pa (£13.81ph)
