Our client who are one of Europe's leading independent technology centres for the design, engineering, test and development of automotive and propulsion systems are currently looking for an Engine Strip & Build Technician to join their experienced Powertrain Engine Test centre team. This is a permanent role based near Bedford, Bedfordshire offering competitive salary, shift allowance (if applicable) and benefits dependent on experience.

The successful applicant will work in weekly rotating shifts - Earlies (6am - 2pm) and Lates (2pm - 10 pm), therefore willingness to work in shifts is essential. The successful role holder will be responsible for carrying out prototype engine strip and build on a variety of engine types. The Technician will then use this information to generate test reports to meet customer requirements. This role reports to the ETC Supervisor.

Role Responsibilities:

* Carry out prototype engine strip and build on a variety of engine types
* Full assessment of parts for re-use and evaluation of wear to support end of test report content
* Assist in instrumentation of engine components during builds
* Organise new Engine Build Area to ensure efficient operation
* Ensure agreed deadlines are met
* To liaise with supporting staff, engineers, supervisors and customers on a technical level
* Ensure all H&S and quality procedures have been adhered to
* Act in accordance with the behaviours for Millbrook staff at all times
Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
* City and Guild in Automotive or Engineering
* Full Automotive/ Engineering apprenticeship or HNC
* Must have a sound Engine build and strip experience preferably in OEM or prototype build environment
* Instrumentation experience (thermocouples, pressure transducers etc.)
* Excellent understanding of gasoline and diesel engine operation
* Photographic experience would be advantageous
* Proficient in engine build and strip processes
* Understanding the assembly of prototype engine components
* Good understanding of evaluating worn engine components
* Understanding of complex modern engine technologies and the associated build processes
* Able to identify and conclude on root causes of engine and component failures
* Familiarity and experience of associated tooling to support builds
* Skills in electronic, electrical and mechanical engine diagnostics would be advantageous
* Good general IT skills especially MS Excel
* Excellent attention to detail and engine build finesse
* A high level of organisation, housekeeping and cleanliness
* Able to follow written instructions/ work requests
* Good understanding of Health and Safety practices
* Willingness to work shifts, including weekends
* Full UK driving license
