Electrical Engineer

Location: Derby

Adecco UK are recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to join our leading tech and infrastructure client!

Role Definition

Working as part of a close-knit team the Electrical Engineer will have an area of specialism and a wide knowledge of our industry especially regarding train control systems. The Electrical Engineer will work within the on-board train fitment design team to develop the project specific JRU solution that will enable should the client wish the removal of the existing vehicle OTMR.

Key Accountabilities

� Capable of initiating and managing detailed electrical related analysis of extensive, multi-layered systems.

� Will work closely with the engineering team members in the UK and Germany.

� Will take an active role in liaison with and supervision of the JRU supply chain, the client and the project team to ensure the JRU workstream is progressed to an agreed programme and technical issues are addressed.

� Will play a key role in delivering in-house design solutions for retrofit design projects.

Specific Skills/Tasks

Essential:

·  In depth practical knowledge and experience of implementing and interfacing to train control systems, in particular OTMR, JRU, TPWS, AWS, Traction Control, Brake Control, Vigilance, GSM-R and DAS.

·  The application design of standard hardware in an on-train environment and documentation of the application design for train carried systems.

·  Ability to understand and capture electrical engineering requirements (specifications, scenarios, rules, etc.) relating to the subsystem.

·  Ability to produce supporting electrical design information, in particular electrical risk assessments, FMECA's, electrical protection calculations and earth bond calculations.

·  Ability to design circuitry and specify electrical components required to facilitate the interface between systems.

·  Experience of leading/participating in vehicle surveys to ensure sufficient information is gathered to facilitate the production of installation designs.

·  In depth knowledge of depot procedures and site safety.

·  An understanding of the approvals process required to modify a train and bring it back into service.

·  Ability to undertake diagnosis and fault finding of complex safety related and safety critical control systems.

·  Read and review requirements, creating written comments and attending reviews as required.

·  Review engineering data for completeness and consistency.

·  Review product installation designs to ensure adherence to guidelines and installation constraints

� Previous experience in liaising with subcontractors throughout the whole project lifecycle.

·  Demonstrates customer focus in all work carried out.

·  Experience of working to industry quality and safety standards.

·  Strong and effective communicator at all levels within the business and in front of new and existing customers.

·  Demonstrates innovative and creative thinking when performing problem solving initiatives.

·  Highly motivated, dependable and self-reliant.

Qualifications:

� Degree in Electrical Engineering or proven suitable experience
