Job Summary

The postholder will carry primary responsibility for day-to-day communications and digital engagement necessary to advance the Department's strategic goals - with particular reference to advancing:
*the Department's role as a hub of psychological and behavioural researchers in the school and internationally
*the dissemination and impact-promotion of Departmental Research
*outreach to prospective students, including the on-going development of marketing materials
*the mediation of teaching activities
*networking with alumni; and
*promoting internet engagement around the Department's seminars, conferences and research dissemination events.

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a prestigious University for an experienced Communications Officer within their Psychology and Behavioural Science department.

The Department's website will be crucial in this regard. The postholder will be encouraged to break new ground in communications and digital engagement, including the imaginative use of text, image and multimedia, public events, event amplification and the dissemination through social media.

The post holder will act as the point of contact within the department for the above areas and will be expected to take a proactive approach to monitoring the latest web and social media technologies in order to keep Departmental communications relevant and up to date.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Web and Communications:
Working to develop, manage and maintain the Departmental website as a cutting-edge resource providing access to research, teaching and learning, collaboration and debate. Sourcing, developing, writing and entering enriched, user-focused website content promoting the centre's research, teaching and other activities, including communications copy, research briefings, case studies, testimonials, images and multi-media content, to support the delivery of the Department's objectives.

The Department is host to a web ('hub') of psychological and behavioural researchers across the school. References to 'the Department' refer to faculty within the Department as well as hub members across the school where relevant.

The successful candidate will have the technical ability to run a blog on Web 2.0, experience of planning, producing and evaluating website content and structure including use of CRM systems. Experience of writing for websites and must have experience within Psychology.
