Civilian Investigator Permanent £25,000 TO £26,000 plus shift allowance of 26.05%

Our Public Sector client is looking for a permanent Civilian Investigator to provide Police Officers with support in relation to investigation of offences, and prisoner processing, file preparation allowing the arresting officer to resume effective patrol.

Role Profile

1. Under the direction of the Inspector and Sergeants within CIU, conduct and carry out investigations.

2. Working with witnesses, draft and take statements as required.

3. Take possession of and accurately record exhibits in accordance with legal requirements,
policies and procedures.

4. Conduct interviews of suspects under Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 which may
include searches.

5. Produce relevant reports/files - prepare files for presentation to the CPS.

6. Present evidence in court and swear out warrants (magistrates and Crown).

7. Work to an agreed case investigation plan and adhere to time guidelines.

8. Maintain and use a good working knowledge of Legislation, Policy and Procedure.

9. Update databases and charts using for use in case investigation and presentation.

10. Be responsible for the safe and confidential movement of files and documents to maintain the integrity of evidence.

11. Prioritise and organise own workload to ensure adherence to required timescales.

12. File preparation, Access and research via relevant IT systems as required.

13. Drive police vehicles (unmarked). Must be prepared to travel in order to progress an investigation.

14. Escort prisoners if required.

15. Maintain an accurate record of daily activities using a CID diary or note book.

16. Liaison with other forces and outside agencies to gather and prepare evidence. Interview witnesses and offenders.

Minimum Criteria

� Educated to A Level standard or equivalent work experience.

� Previous investigative experience within a policing environment including experience of taking statements of evidence.

� Proven administrative experience, in particular the ability to produce reports and case files.

� Excellent keyboard and IT literacy skills. Experience of word processing, spreadsheets, databases and emails are essential.
� Knowledge and understanding of Criminal Law in particular the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.

� Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality and Data Protection/ Freedom of Information.

� Experience of dealing with conflict and conflict resolution.
