Global manufacturing company based in Barry are currently looking to recruit Civil / Structural Engineer for 6 to 12 months minimum, 40 hours per week.

The posting is for a civil and/or structural engineer within the Civil, Structural and Buildings discipline TES team, which provides front end and detailed design engineering and construction services for Capex and Opex projects at the Barry site as well as providing technical expertise to site maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

� Preparation and checking of civil and structural design packages for:

o Pipe supports

o Access platforms

o Equipment-support structures

o Equipment and pump foundations

o Building structures and foundations

o Reinforced concrete drawings and schedules

o Drainage layouts and modifications

� Applying global engineering design standards, MET (most effective technology), and relevant UK standards during detailed design.

� Identification of design hazards as designer in accordance with CDM 2015 regulations.

� Creation and update of project estimates for engineering and construction costs.

� Coordination of design with other disciplines and with CEC (outsourced) counterparts.

� Representing the civil/structural team in design review and model review meetings.

� Site survey and field checking of dimensions and elevations.

� Review of vendor documents and fabrication drawings.

� Recognition and identification of design change via change control procedure.

� Input to construction quality control - checking of rebar arrangement and cover, anchor bolt setting-out, dimensions, levels, coordinates etc.

� Construction support - responding to technical queries raised by civil and mechanical contractors and assisting construction supervision with technical issues.

Qualities

� A high regard for working in a highly regulated safety environment i.e. COMAH site.

� An ability to work in a multidisciplinary design team.

� Able to handle multiple concurrent tasks and prioritise effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

� Experience of design engineering, preferably within an industrial environment.

� Civil or structural bachelor's degree or equivalent
