Based in Preston
Our client is a leader in their field specialising in the manufacture and supply of engineering accessories. They have been established for almost 100 years and are a secure and growing company. My client is looking for an Assistant Buyer to join their team to work alongside the Purchasing Manager,Stock Controller, 2 buyers and Purchasing Administrator on a full time, permanent basis.
This is a very busy and hands on role, and with over 2 years engineering component and buying experience the successful candidate will support the purchasing department with the supply of parts to suit incoming order distribution and to provide a fast and smooth turnaround for orders placed throughout Europe.
You will want to make a difference in a company that offers excellent support and progression and yearly profit related pay. e successful candidate will ideally come from a technical or electronics
Reporting to the purchasing manager you will support and integrate with the purchasing team, with a directive of identifying areas of procurement where effective cost savings can be made.
You will be working on projects with the purchasing managers support and identifying cost reductions.
Analysing and identifying slow moving stock lines and offering suggestions and making adjustments where necessary.
Developing good supplier relations.
Negotiating best prices and the placing of purchase orders.
Sourcing new suppliers and new products.
Liaising and communicating with our internal and external sales team and providing information when necessary.
The candidate
Should be a well-motivated person with proven previous purchasing experience. Be able to work under pressure in a busy purchasing office, should be able exhibit excellent verbal and written skills and be confident to express their opinions.
A good team player with a positive attitude with energy to suit.
Have an excellent telephone manner and be able to communicate effectively, previous experience in our type of industry with a technical engineering background would be beneficial with basic computer skills essential.
