The role is based in a small Finance team and handles accounting functions relating to Voyage Accounting.
You will be responsible for the recording of the financial impact of all sales and costs relating to each voyages chartered in London.
You should have good experience working in an accounting department and be conversant with MS Office (primarily Outlook, Excel and Word). Shipping use a standalone system called Shipnet (CVMS) and the financial data recorded into it gets downloaded to the Corp accounting system - SAP.
Effective communication is essential as you will liaise daily with external suppliers and vendors (ship-owners, shipbrokers etc.), external and internal customers and with their colleagues in Chartering, Voyage management, and the Demurrage functions.
Day-to-Day responsibilities in this contract role
� Process freight and demurrage claims for payment.
� Verify suppliers' bank details are correct and match with Charter Party payment details.
� Create/revise vendor if it is a new supplier or there is a change of bank details.
� Bill out cost to customer using our in house system in accordance with established processes and timelines.
� Handle Voyage close-out once all aspects of the transaction are complete.
� Reconciliation of monthly voyage accounts
� Work closely with Charterers and Voyage Managers to ensure understanding of more complex pricing calculations, rebillable expenses, and other non-standard contract terms. Problem solve where required.
� Payment and recording of monthly G&A expenses.
Month end activities;
� Monitor profit and loss accounts for each voyage to ensure accounts are accurate for the month.
� Monitor ageing of accounts receivables and where required engage customer to progress resolution.
The ideal candidate will have experience as an accounts payable analyst or accounts clerk.
The role requires experience in accounts payable.
Experience with SAP is ideal, and if you have Shipping experience and experience with the Shipnet system, this would be a real bonus, but is not essential
