Job description

Actemium Rail is a new area of growth for Actemium (€2.8 billion Electrical Services business) focussing on designing and integrating solutions that meet the specific needs of the rail sector. We are recruiting for a Business Development Sector Manager; the role will see be responsible for all activities in the Rail Sector including profit and loss of contracts and commercial plan. The ideal candidate will have good level of business development knowledge within the Rail industry.

The Role

• Reports to the BU GeneralManager.
• In addition to their responsibilities as a Senior Contracts Engineer, the Sector Manager is also responsible for all activities within their defined Sector and the profit and loss of all the contracts in their Sector whether under their direct responsibility or under the Senior/Contracts Engineers within their Sector.
• Develops their Sector's activity.
• Establishes the Sectors commercial action plan, in association with their Senior/Contracts Engineers.
• Organises sales and development activity with the assistance of their Senior/Contracts Engineers.
• Ensures the execution of the contracts with necessary risk management control.
• Assist their Senior/Contracts Engineers in their sales, execution andmanagement of their contracts.
• Reviews tenders submitted by their Senior/Contracts Engineers and validates bids to his limit of authorities.
• Ensures that all investigations are completed with all necessary personnel involved and information obtained, reviewed and supplied to the SHEQ Manager following any incidents.
• Consistently promotes and influences SHEQ aspects throughout their Sector.

Desired profile

The Person

• Ideally degree or HNC/HND qualified in Electrical engineering or equivalent technical discipline
• A good commercial knowledge of the Rail industry would be ideal
• JIB Contracts Manager status with equivalent technical discipline and experience would be advantageous 
• Experienced in the Design of Low Voltage installation in an industrial environment with Rail experience would be ideal.
• Experienced in site survey 's leading to modifications to existing equipment would be ideal.
• Proven experience of working with and managing contracts within a traditional construction project and NEC3/4.
• Understanding of commercial issues affecting project performance and experience in assessing value I evaluating variations of works undertaken
• Must be able to communicate effectively with customers at all levels
• Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising on standards and quality
• Excellent communications skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts both orally and in written form
• Calm professional manner, but able to take firm and timely decisions
• Positive "can do" attitude, be proactive to identify and resolve management problems
• Able to work extended and/or unsocial hours to the full requirements of the role
• Ability to deliver projects to demanding deadlines
• Ability to develop friendly and professional customer focused relations with others
