Key tasks

SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Maintaining high customer service levels in reception and leisure club with a good product knowledge at all times. To provide and maintain high standards of cleanliness in the gymnasium, steam room, sauna, changing rooms and pool/spa area. To understand and ensure the safety of users (members, guests and residents) and of staff. To be sales focused and to convert enquiries into firm memberships.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-
Welcomes guests and fitness member as soon as they arrive with great care and attention
Helps encourage customer loyalty by building friendly, personalised relationships
Anticipates guest’s needs and takes them into consideration

• To provide a welcoming atmosphere for all guests and members.
• You will be trained in current operational software (Opera and PS+) in order to perform resident check-ins and manually sign club members into the club.
• Follow opening and closing procedures of all leisure facilities on time and ensuring safety of users.
• Offer and assist with correct use of equipment and be aware of all health, hygiene and safety policies.
• Perform fitness assessments & effective programming as required to company procedures.
• Ensuring members & guests are instructed in the correct use of equipment and continue to monitor.
• Issue Pre-Activity Readiness Questionnaires (PARQ) to all users. Be prepared to assist and offer advice where necessary.
• Maintain safety in the pool, spa bath, sauna and steam room. These are to be kept clean and tidy at all times.
• To perform lifeguard and First Aid duties as and when required and to carry out these skills in the event of an emergency.
• To ensure all Daily/Weekly/Monthly cleaning must be adhered to as per the rota.
• Complete regular & thorough ‘walk-arounds’ throughout the Leisure Club, hazard and cleanliness spotting – Action any shortfalls.
• To perform necessary pool checks and maintenance on the pool and spa bath throughout the day as detailed in the Normal Operating Procedures and by direction of the Leisure Club Manager
• To perform any other reasonable duties as requested by the Leisure Club Manager/Assistant Leisure Club Manager.
• To maintain a smart and tidy appearance at all times and to comply within uniform requirements.
• Attend staff meetings as required.
• Inductions, training and continuous development are to be carried to a competent level for new starters and work experience placements.
• Your duties maybe varied from time to time to suit the changing needs of the club and the Leisure Club Manager will give you notification.
• Be thorough and accurately record stock levels when required.
• Be responsible and accurately account for money handling and banking of Leisure Club revenue.
• To follow policies, rules & procedures of the Leisure Club
• Actively promote the Leisure Club & its facilities to prospective members, offering informative tours and explaining the product in order to generate sales of memberships & secondary sales.
• Maintain member portfolio records.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and customers.
• Display technical competence and be solution orientated – Reporting issues to the relevant parties.
• To represent Novotel Cardiff Centre and Accor in a professional and knowledgeable manner and act as an exemplary team member of the Hotel.

Skills Desired:
• Proactive nature and excellent interaction skills
• IT literate (Word, Excel)
• A forward thinking, self-motivated individual with good knowledge of fitness screening protocols.

Qualifications:
• A fitness instructor qualification ( at least Level 2 or equivalent)
• Hold a valid Lifesaving qualification (NARS or NPLQ)
