We are seeking a high caliber Senior Machine Design Engineer; who will be responsible for Design and Facilitate fabrication of tooling and production equipment for microelectronics assemblies

Impact role with have with Abbott:

  • Collaborate with internal customers to provide mechanical design support for manufacturing and testing equipment
  • Support the development of automated equipment and Establish machine specifications.
  • Evaluate process and design alternatives based on Design for Manufacturability principles.
  • Establish knowledge base of new developments in manufacturing and design technologies.
  • Collaborate with vendors on procuring materials, services, and equipment
  • Fix and repair automated equipment
  • Assemble and evaluate automated equipment
  • You will Support equipment validations
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Align with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand Abbott’s marketplace success:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Associates degree in equipment technology with 10-15 years relevant experience
  • 5-10 years of Engineering Design experience
  • Experience with crafting and fabricating automated manufacturing equipment for low and high volume processes.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact with the organization
  • Experience with general automation and control concepts along with machine vision systems and PLC software programming.
  • CAD software skills are also required (ProE, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD).
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a dynamic, changing environment.
  • Lead and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally
