Our location in L ake Bluff, Illinois currently has an opportunity for a Postdoctoral Scientist, Protein Purification .

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Main Purpose:

This is a Postdoctoral Scientist fellowship and will last up to three years.

Activities and responsibilities for the Postdoctoral Scientist, Protein Purification will include:

·  Design and develop industrial scale protein purification processes.
·  Conceive, plan, design, and conduct advanced studies for protein purification as independent contributor and interact/coordinate with other groups and functions on project development and improvement.
·  Design and conduct experiments leading to the development and implementation of protein purification processes.
·  Troubleshoot instrumentation or method problems.
·  Participate in cross-functional teams; collaborate with protein fermentation, analytical and assay development scientists.
·  Evaluate and summarize data using analytical methodologies, interpret results, draw conclusions and recommend options for future experiments to achieve project goals.
·  Design and conduct experiments, accomplish established milestones and summarize data, interpret results and draw conclusions.
·  Evaluate data using analytical methodologies to achieve results.
·  Document studies effectively and timely in laboratory notebook.
·  Recommend options for future experiments.
·  Present scientific observations at team meetings.
·  Identify technical alternatives and demonstrate feasibility of use.
·  Anticipate, recognize and resolves technical problems.
·  Participate in project planning, updates and process improvements.
·  Implement project plans comprehending resource, budget, facility and regulatory requirements.
·  Establish and review complex plans for multiple projects or activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required:

·  Ph.D. in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry , or related disciplines.
·  Basic computer skills
·  Advanced Knowledge of multiple analytical instruments
·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to work in a team setting

Preferred:

·  Biochemistry or Protein Chemistry expertise strongly desired
·  Experience with protein purification is required (e.g., Size Exclusion, Affinity Chromatography, Anion Exchange, Hydrophobic Interaction, Automated Chromatography Systems)
·  Familiarity with analytical techniques
