JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our Neuromodulation business is an area of expertise for Abbott. This business includes implantable devices compatible with mobile technology to help people who suffer from chronic pain and movement disorders. Our Solutions include Proclaim (TM) XR SCS System, the #1 Spinal cord stimulator on the market, Proclaim (TM) DRG Neurostimulator, the only FDA approved DRG therapy and a market leader in radiofrequency ablation therapy, Abbott RFA.  These non-opioid therapies allow us to provide interventional pain therapy to patients throughout the pain continuum. Our deep brain stimulation technology for progressive diseases help people manage their Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor symptoms, steering away from side effects.

Based in Austin, TX, the Director of Global Sales Training will provide strategic leadership, planning and direction for global Field Support Services to attain maximum sales volume and develop maximum potential volume from all markets for the organization's products and services.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Provide strategic leadership, planning and direction for global Field Support Services to attain maximum sales volume and develop maximum potential volume from all markets for the organization's products and services
  • Stay current on market trends and industry "best practices"; incorporate as applicable to drive maximum utilization of products and services
  • Lead and / or participate on cross-functional teams to support organizational goals
  • Travel up to 50% of the time both domestically and internationally by any means necessary to support organizational goals
  • Understand, comply with and promote adherence to applicable EHS policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Implementation of strategy, scope, process and programs which maximize product utilization

providing significant and positive impact to short-term, mid-range and long-term organizational goals

  • Demonstrate continual improvement in commercial processes
  • Create a work environment that supports cross-functional team effectiveness
  • Management and development of reporting staff; mentor others as appropriate
     

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience to develop the competences required to meet the skills and responsibilities of the position. 
  • Experience in healthcare sales (preferably medical devices, diagnostics, products), operations
    management, sales management, service management, program or project management, or consulting
  • Ability to motivate and lead a diverse staff to drive the execution of critical strategies and programs across a large organization
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to accurately evaluate and assess complex processes; identify possible solutions and drive to resolution
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and outside professionals, many of which are at Executive / C-Suite levels
  • Knowledge of applicable US and non-US Quality System Requirements and other relevant regulations for medical devices
  • Experience with business models that involve building patient demand and patient flow through a practice including different types of acquisition, education and conversion programs
  • Understanding of practice economics and how physicians make decisions that are first patient treatment driven and second practice economics driven
  • Understands the total office selling process across all different types of staff and stakeholders
  • Experience with salesforce.com or similar SFA system – demonstrated ability to use the system, pull data from the system and analyze for business and training insight
  • Facilitates marketing execution in field by driving execution of marketing strategy, messaging and programs. Takes ownership of roll out and ongoing assessment, identifies and closes gaps in field execution via training
  • Ability to create training that aligns with rep experience level and tenure in role eg) can modify training for new reps, new to company, advanced, tenured

Preferred

  • Experience with manager development and training (in addition to reps) is preferred
  • Experience with digital health related devices, service and programs is a plus
  • Experience in capital equipment a plus
