WHAT YOU’LL DO 

Provides engineering support to new and existing products. Investigates and resolves problems involving techniques, materials, equipment and systems. Use multidisciplinary engineering knowledge to design and develop innovative medical devices or components/subsystems in support of company's strategic plan. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective and cost efficient business practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness. Promotes the process of continuous quality improvement and risk management and coordinates solutions for electrical system issues. Exercises independent judgment in planning and organizing work; monitors performance and reports status. Use multidisciplinary engineering knowledge to design and develop innovative medical devices or components/subsystems in support of company's strategic plan.

  • Work may involve collaborating with cross-functional teams developing and executing tests, performing root cause analysis and participating in investigations. Also making presentations to internal/external customers, vendors, and senior management
  • Work requires the application of theoretical principles, evaluation, ingenuity and creative/analytical techniques typically acquired in a recognized four-year or more academic course of study.
  • Applies engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of equipment and system problems.
  • Helps establish processes based on product specifications.
  • Evaluates process and design alternatives based on “design for manufacturability” principles.
  • Manages program compliance with “Quality Control” requirements (i.e. Design Control, Process validation etc.).
  • Understands IP issues relative to processes being developed.
  • Maintains knowledge of new developments in manufacturing and design technologies.
  • Effectively communicates moderately complex technical issues and solutions to non-technical internal and external customers.
  • Exercises technical judgment in planning, organizing, performing, and/or coordinating engineering work. Remains abreast of and consults on technical advancements.
  • Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness.
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING 

Required 

  • 2-4 years related experience, preferably in a medical device environment.
  • Ability to deliver quality engineering information that adds value to management’s decision-making process
  • Experience developing manufacturing processes and technologies and designing for manufacturabiilty
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel including internationally

Preferred

  • Prior medical device experience preferred
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer / Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • Working understanding of FDA, GMP, and ISO 13485
  • Working understanding of the following standards 60601, 62304, &/or 14971
