JOB DESCRIPTION:

Clinical Education Specialist

Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.  We aim to lead the markets we serve by requiring the solutions we offer customers provide an improved benefit/risk profile as compared to existing standards of care; a performance threshold that by definition, guides and ensures the productive output of our engineering, business development, and clinical research efforts result in outcomes that advance the standard of care.

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

  • Researches and develops customized educational curricula on the technology and benefits of Company products in response to the identified needs of  clinical employees and customers.
  • Develops core participant materials delivered in conjunction with face-to-face program guides in addition to e-learning content
  • Organizes, identifies and solicits appropriate faculty for, and teaches product education classes and seminars in support of Abbott clinical studies and clinical employees.
  • Manages training and education program development (inclusive of training plans, training execution, training documentation and overall compliance) consistent with Department Work Instructions (DWIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manual of Operations (MOPs), Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations for the clinical employees, as well as other customers associated with clinical studies (e.g. clinical entities/site).
  • Provides instructional training and assessment/certification support for complex medical devices as well as associated processes that span the full range of Abbott Structural Heart products to an audience consisting of advanced technical professionals.
  • Engage in continuous learning within the therapeutic area in order to be a reliable, trusted resource of accurate, up-to-date medical and scientific knowledge
  • Assess on-going educational requirements and collaborate with internal and external partners to incorporate growing educational needs into the curriculum offerings

  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING 

Required 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, nursing, life sciences, or a related academic field.
  • A minimum of two years of work related experience required; medical device or health industry experience preferred.   
  • Experience developing, planning, facilitating and executing programs (educational programs preferred); must be able to apply the fundamental concepts and practices to conduct needs assessment and design in-house and field-based education/training programs.  Requires ability to map task interdependencies, multi-task, prioritize such tasks, meet deadlines, and work within budgets
  • Requires comprehensive interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, quantitative, analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills.

Preferred 

  • An understanding of the technical aspects and application of cardiovascular products and therapies.
