Tasks:
ABB is seeking a Proposal Engineer who will be responsible for developing and implementing plans to meet the established objectives for order volume, revenue, margin and market share in the assigned market region for the Medium Voltage (MV) Products. Provide Front End Sales (FES) with support including proposal preparation and technical assistance. Responsibilities within the factory include providing input to order forecasting, review of Terms and Condition and approval of purchase orders. Emphasis in all responsibilities will be to profitably increase the market share, with a focus on customer satisfaction and productivity. Work location is in the BMO of EPMV.

Typical duties/responsibilities may include but are not limited to, the following:

• Maintain a current and thorough understanding of products, shifting customer requirements, industry trends, competitors, market level prices, economic conditions and maintain extensive contact with sales force regarding customers and sales opportunities.

• Achieve planned objectives for order volume, margin, and revenue and market share as assigned.

• Review and prepare proposals, contracts and master agreements from customer specifications with a full understanding of ABB's technical and commercial abilities, competitor offerings and market conditions.

• Formulate price levels that are consistent with the market and required margin levels to obtain the profit targets.

• Responsible for orders from a technical and commercial standpoint during bidding and negotiation and order entry. Required to work with customer service, engineering and schedulers to ensure a clean order.

• Assist with strategic accounts as a point of contact for negotiation activities activities.

• Maintain and utilize negotiation database to support the reporting and analysis for marketing and sales decisions.

• Assist in the creation of sales strategies to achieve growth and profit goals

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Requires technical, business and interpersonal skills to develop strategies, resolve controversial issues and to negotiate and influence decisions in order to secure orders.

•Self motivated and driven to manage their time even if their direct supervisor is in another location or our out of the local office.

•P.C. and Microsoft products proficiency, including ability to read and interpret electrical prints

•Experience working in a group which requires the ability to influence when direct authority does not exist.

•Ability to become competent on new sales and marketing tools which increase accuracy and enable productivity with in the BMO Team

•Travel to customers and internal meetings on average 10 - 20% of one's time.

• Previous experience supporting Technical Product or Subject matter.

Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

• BS in Engineering

• 2 years of experience with electrical or industrial related products.

Preferred Qualifications:

• EE or ME preferred.

• Previous experience writing technical manuals or proposals.
• Previous experience communicating with customers via phone or at customer site.
• Previous experience supporting a sales or marketing division.
• Previous experience/knowledge with Power Utility products such as switchgear , breakers, relays, instrument transformers or experience with other commercial/industrial electrical related products,

• Previous experience or demonstrated skills meeting consistent dead lines or completing work assignments.

•Significant English verbal/ written communication skills.

• Candidates currently residing un US with work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
